The problem of aesthetic reconstruction of hard dental tissues has long been present in dental practice, either in the treatment of traumatic injuries, endogenous or exogenous discoloration, hypoplastic defects of hard dental tissue, disorders of shape or size of teeth and other malformations.
Construction of prosthetic substitutes by Cerec system significantly easies clinical procedure because it avoids the classic impression procedure and operation of laboratories, so in one visit one can make more restorations. The quality of these substitutes is comparable to laboratory work.
The technique begins by preparing the desired tooth for a specific prosthetic replacement after which the powder is applied that is required for scanning the tooth (optical fingerprint) using 3D intraoral camera and transfer images to a computer. This is followed by the reatment of ceramic block and the production of desired prosthetic replacement in time from 4 to 20 min, depending on the complexity of the restoration.
Cerec system for making prosthetic replacements provides the use of ceramic blocks mounted on a metal carrier from which the replacement is made by cutting.
Advantages of the proceedings
- relative simplicity (the laboratory is unnecessary, there is no classical impression procedure, the procedure can be repeated if desired)
- speed (it is possible to produce several restorations during one appointment)
- acceptable cost (no laboratory costs, time saving) with equal or higher quality of performed restorations (aesthetics, resistance of the ceramic to the oral environment, minimal abrasion of the hard dental tissues, high stability during mastication, controlled material quality which does not depend on laboratory conditions)
- aesthetics
